So I know I haven't posted anything in a very long time, and for that I apologize. Life has been very busy, but I know that is no excuse to ignore my little blog! So here I am ready to tell about a road trip I just took with an awesome family who I have special ties to. Remember the twins' birth that I attended a few months ago? They were going to be driving to Texas, and I got invited/invited myself to go along. Since my oldest sister and her husband live in Texas, I got the brilliant idea to show up unannounced and surprise her!
So into the big green suburban I piled with a 5 year old, a 3 year old, 3 1/2 month old twins, and their parents.

But then we realized that because my being with them was a surprise there was no way this picture would be able to be posted on facebook or instagram. For if my sis saw it before we reached Texas my plan of attack would be spoiled. So for the sake of social media we then were able to take this one.
Oh we are so sneaky!! No one would ever know that I am curled up on the floor trying to avoid being seen in the picture.
Directly after this picture was taken Little Man in the back began his string of "How far away is Texas?" "When will we be in Texas?" "Ashley! *gasp* is THIS Texas??? Well what about that over there?"
We were able to distract him so that the endless questioning actually came to an end fairly quickly, for the time being at least. We had packed several unopened toys for the older two to open along the way. So the suspense of getting further down the road before a new toy was revealed offered a great deal of distraction. We had decided that since there were 3 drivers and that there was now 2 adults to tend to the kiddos at a time, that we would drive straight through to Texas without stopping for the night.
Driver number one proceeded to drive from 3pm Friday afternoon until somewhere around 5am Saturday morning. That was about 6 red bulls and 2 starbucks double shots later. The ride went fairly smoothly. We did have some crying from Little Man in the back during the night. Several times I'd awake from semi deep sleep to cries of "I wanna go back! I wanna sleep in my bed!" Poor guy thought we would never reach Texas! But then there were the adorable moments of "Ashley, do you know my Aunt B?" me: "Yes I do, she is one of my very good friends." Little Man: " Yeah isn't she a GREAT girl?" And this is coming from a 3 year old!
The twins were remarkable. We did not have to make any extra stops for diapers since they so graciously filled them conviently with the stops we made for bathroom breaks and food! But over 29 hours in a car will take it's toll on anyone. But we did reach Texas Saturday evening around 10pm.
I was able to shock my sister along with several other friends. It was well worth the ride and long car hours.

Once arriving in Texas I had such a great time with my big sis and her husband. We packed the week full of chats, laughter, memories made, doula tips, good food, and awesome friends. I'm so glad it worked out that I got to come.
